S7 E92: West Ham v Luton ‘keep the faith’ preview: Is this must not lose?
Wednesday May 08, 2024
Wednesday May 08, 2024
It is do or die for the Town as they head to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United on Saturday afternoon knowing that defeat will consign them back to the Championship.
Kev is joined once again by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and cycling Luton fan Mark Crowther to look ahead to a game where it really is points or relegation for the Hatters.
Before we do that, Kev and James recorded a quick chat at our annual awards bash, where we touch on the news that broke earlier in the day that Nottingham Forest had failed in their appeal against a four-point deduction for breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules.
Since we recorded the main podcast, West Ham have also announced that manager David Moyes will leave the Hammers at the end of the season, so Luton's visit will be the Scot's final home game in charge of the east London outfit.

The boys pick out some threats in the West Ham side while assessing their shaky recent form before looking at how Luton could line up and whether anyone will be back to help the squad in this important clash.
The podcast concludes as always with the score predictions before we hear from Mark ahead of a very special day as he cycles to his 162nd and final football ground for the last dance in his Premier Pedal Challenge of charity.
Mark has clocked up more than 8,000 miles in the last 3 years, cycling to Luton’s away days. He’s raised over £36,000, which is nearly a pound for every Luton fan that went to the Championship play-off final in May 2023.

This is it! It is now or never for the Town and their hopes of remaining in the Premier League next season.
Everton are the visitors to Kenilworth Road under the Friday night floodlights and Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the biggest game of football Luton have played in since the Championship play-off final.
The boys discuss what Luton need to do to keep Everton at bay before reflecting on how the team could line up, who could return to the side and where they can hurt this Toffees side once again, having beaten them twice this term already.
The podcast concludes with a reinforcement of how huge this match is and the need for everyone to be right at it on and off the pitch before the score predictions. Do Kev and James predict a Town win?

It is as you were in the race to survive in the Premier League after the Town went down 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to reflect on the day in which Luton showed a positive reaction from the previous week but couldn’t quite get the result they were looking for.
The boys reflect on the key moments of the 90 minutes and look at where it all went wrong and what the Town need to do better if they are to get the points they need over the final three games.
Hear the post-match thoughts of Rob Edwards and Teden Mengi before the boys discuss why fans shouldn’t be too critical of a particular Luton player.

Let’s do this again shall we!? Luton Town go in search of a huge three Premier League points when they head to Molineux on Saturday afternoon to face injury ravaged Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sound familiar?
Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead at a match which could see the Hatters escape the bottom three for at least 24 hours and hopefully more.
The lads look at what is happening at Wolves in terms of their injuries and poor form, but overall how they've shown the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest what can be done when you play by the rules.
They reflect on who Hatters boss Rob Edwards could have been alluding to as potentially being back for this one and how Luton might line up as a result.
There is also a discussion on who the key men will be on both sides before the podcast concludes as always with the score predictions.
All this as well as plenty of laughs throughout the latest episode of the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

Five extremely poor goals conceded against Brentford - one scored - which we simply have to accept.
But it’s all OK because Stuart Attwell’s one of our own! We warned podcast listeners that Notts Forest fans are whingers before the weekend and they haven’t changed. Our ability to keep a straight face has been tested multiple times.
LTST Podcast will now consider its options.... Shall we take the Mick out of Nottingham Forest in just this episode, or forever more?
OK, we’ll also briefly discuss another afternoon to forget for the Hatters as they fluffed their lines with a 5-1 humbling at the hands of Brentford.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to take a very brief look at a day nobody needs to revisit.
When they have addressed the game then it's back to THAT Nottingham Forest meltdown on Twitter (yeah we know it’s called X now) to really help them over the hump of that result.
This, plus reaction from Hatters boss Rob Edwards and we announce the winners of our big prize giveaway…. all included on the latest episode of the longest running Luton Town podcast!

Here we go! The first of five humungous games of football as Luton attempt to remain in the Premier League sees Brentford the visitors to Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview what is sure to be a nervy encounter and a potential emotional rollercoaster on an afternoon where the Hatters will escape the bottom three for almost 24 hours at least with a win.
As ever, the lads highlight some threats in the opposition before coming back to who could line up for the home side in light of recent comments by Rob Edwards that suggests he could have some players back from injury for the game.
Ways in which Luton can get at Brentford as well as a rallying cry and brief thoughts from Rob and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu are also included as is a look at where the Hatters could have the advantage over those above them in the run-in.

S7 E84: Man City 5 Luton 1: Were there positives in this pummelling?
Monday Apr 15, 2024
Monday Apr 15, 2024
Thankfully that one is out of the way!
The Town went down 5-1 to the world champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a game of little significance to the Hatters’ survival chances.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to reflect on a tough afternoon at the office with a briefer than usual look at the 90 minutes, with the boys choosing to offer up more perspective than dwell too much on a defeat to the best team in the country.
The chaps do find some positives to pick out though and then there is the reaction from Rob Edwards and Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, who made a 400th appearance for the club in the match.
The podcast them concludes with a look at the relegation battle as we get ready to start the run-in.

Luton Town face the toughest of all challenges on Saturday afternoon as they head to the Etihad Stadium for the first time in 13 years to take on the world champions Manchester City.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the daunting task. The boys reflect on the difficulty of the test, albeit one which might see the Hatters face a rotated City side in light of the Champions League matches they are playing either side against Real Madrid.
The lads then work out who could replace Issa Kabore who is ineligible before looking at ways Luton could just have a bit of joy in the match.
As ever the podcast concludes with the score predictions. Do either predict an away win!?
