S7 E63: Liverpool v Luton preview: Could the Hatters be visiting Anfield at a good time?
Wednesday Feb 21, 2024
Wednesday Feb 21, 2024
16 years on from the last time Luton Town went to Anfield, the Hatters head to the red half of Merseyside on Wednesday evening to take on the Premier League leaders as Liverpool are the opposition for Rob Edwards’ men.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to a daunting looking clash, although could Luton be getting Liverpool at a good time in light of the number of home players out injured or doubtful, and a cup final just four days away for the Reds?
As ever, the boys pick out the threats from the opposition before looking at how Luton could line up in the big game. Will the Hatters make any more changes to their starting XI?
The chaps then look at the ways that Luton can get at this Liverpool side as they look to pick up the first truly big scalp of the season, before the podcast concludes with the score predictions.
All this and so much more on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

Gutted but so very proud! That was the feeling of Kev and The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe after witnessing Luton give everything they had but come up short to go down 2-1 to Manchester United.
Listen to the boys recap the major moments of the 90 minutes including all three goals and the many other chances that came along over the course of what was a pulsating contest to witness.
The big talking points include the terrible display by a set of officials who started the game badly and got progressively worse before the key men in a Town shirt were profiled individually, including the best piece of defensive midfield play Kev has ever seen!
Listen for all this plus the post-match reactions of Rob Edwards, Cauley Woodrow, Tahith Chong and Thomas Kaminski and much more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

The Luton Town Supporters' Trust was created, and initially named Trust in Luton, in 2003 to help force out unpopular former owner John Gurney.
Current club chief executive Gary Sweet was part of the group that effectively forced the club into administration and out of Mr Gurney's control, for a new consortium to take over, headed up by Bill Tomlins.
Another change of ownership again brought problems and administration followed again in 2007, until the club was eventually bought out by the fan-led 2020 consortium, headed up by Sweet, which has now helped steer the history-making Hatters from the non-league to the Premier League.
The Supporters' Trust is a democratic, non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. The purpose of a Trust is to help fans to join together and strengthen their influence over the way Luton Town Football Club is run, and to improve the links between their club and the community it serves.
In a way, we’re like a union, believing that many voices are stronger than one and that the best way to influence the club is to represent many fans, not just ourselves.
We have defended the Club in the tough times and maintain a shareholding in the Club to ensure we are able to protect and celebrate the future. We act as custodian of the image rights of the Club – to protect the Club name, kit colours, Club crest and mascot for the long-term interests of the Club.
And like our Club, we have integrity. We believe in fair play and are committed to represent the fans and influence the regulation and its enforcement of football. And to collaborate with other Trusts to share our ideas, learn from best practice and presented a stronger voice to the authorities.
Join the Trust for as little as £10 a year (adults) and £5 for children and seniors.
We offer exclusive benefits, podcasts and meet the manager and players events and are committed to continually improving the experience of the Hatters’ fans, bringing the team closer to the fans and bringing the supporters’ voice into the boardroom, validating proposed activities and decisions that impact the fans.
We encourage the you to get involved, to enjoy the thrill (the ups and the downs!) of supporting Luton Town, and we raise money for both the fans and the community/charity, along with the Club, to help with immediate needs as we have seen during the recent COVID crisis, and to build a better future through significant capital projects.

Luton Town go up against the biggest club in the world on Sunday afternoon when Manchester United are the visitors to Kenilworth Road.
Kev is once again joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and Town fan and actor Sam Gittings to look ahead to the big game. Will Luton bounce back from their disappointment of last week?
As ever, we look at the chief threats that United bring to the party before the attention turns to any team changes Rob Edwards could make to head into the clash against the former champions.
The boys then look at how Luton can get at this Manchester United team with a number of areas in focus in particular. The podcast then concludes with the score predictions for the match. Will anyone pick a home win!?
Listen for all this and loads more on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

Well that wasn’t part of the plan was it?
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe and to dissect the disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United alongside special guest Sam Gittins, a Hatters fan and actor who is currently appearing in Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's TV series Masters of the Air.
The lads reflect on the game and where it went wrong for the Town in a 90 minutes where they never really punched any holes in the Sheffield United defence before going through the goals and how the Hatters repeatedly shot themselves in the foot.
Hear post-match reaction from Rob Edwards, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Chiedozie Ogbene before the podcast concludes with a look at a couple of things that make our club so great and the latest developments regarding Power Court.
All this and much more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

S7 E59: Luton v Sheffield Utd preview: Have you ever been annoyed by a sandwich?
Wednesday Feb 07, 2024
Wednesday Feb 07, 2024
So here it is. The biggest weekend of the season so far as Sheffield United are the visitors to Kenilworth Road for a match which could see the Hatters taking an enormous step towards survival in the Premier League.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to preview a second successive opportunity for Rob Edwards’ charges to pick up a first double in the Premier League after the 3-2 Boxing Day win at Bramall Lane.
As always, the preview podcast begins with a look at the opposition and the perilous position they are in and how that could be to the Luton advantage with threats and weaknesses pulled out in depth.
The chaps then look at how Luton will hurt Sheffield United and the personnel they might use to do it before the podcast finishes with the score predictions. Will the lads pick a home win? Make sure you listen to find out!
More importantly, what's your favourite sandwich?
All this and a whole lot more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

WOW again! After the incredible night of football at the Kenny to see off Brighton last week, Luton went to St James’ Park and became the first team to score four goals at Newcastle in the Premier League since 2021 on a memorable Saturday afternoon.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to recap on a 90 minutes which nobody will ever forget. Even the day after the game the chaps are still in some disbelief at what they saw!
As ever the podcast begins with a reflection of the day as a whole, before a deep dive into the action with all eight goals picked apart and analysed, with one man in particular quite rightly getting all of the plaudits.
The podcast also includes a reaction to just how mad it is that Luton are not just prepared to go toe-to-toe with these teams on their own patch but also that they are capable of doing it, before the attention turns to some performances that shouldn’t go unnoticed in an orange shirt.
All this and so much more on a slightly extended episode of the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League (where we are staying!!).

Luton Town head to St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon looking to complete their first double in the Premier League.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look ahead to the fixture with the podcast beginning with a look back at recent meetings between the sides and why there is every reason to be optimistic ahead of the contest.
The podcast then turns the attention to the host team on Saturday and the many injuries they have, which could be very much to the Hatters’ advantage, especially as Teden Mengi and Jacob Brown are fit and available for Luton.
The talk then moves back to Luton and who could come in and out of the side for the Tyneside trip.
As ever the boys look at where and how Luton can get some joy against this Newcastle side and who the key players could be in the game before ending with their score predictions. After a good run will the boys pick an away win? Listen to find out!
All of this and plenty more on the longest running Luton Town podcast!

WOW! Luton Town came out on top on what was a memorable evening of magical football under the Kenilworth Road lights when a inspired displayed by Elijah Adebayo carried the Hatters to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on a night no Luton fan will forget as the Town battered Brighton in ruthless fashion.
Listen to the boys discuss the emotional scenes before the match when Tom Lockyer did a lap of honour and that incredible start which saw the Hatters 2-0 up before Brighton had kicked the ball in the Luton half.
The chaps then reflect on the remainder of the incredible evening of football and go on to cover how the formation change that was discussed in the preview episode paid dividends.
We hear interviews with the hero of the night, Elijah Adebayo, and the man who masterminded the victory, as Kev starts the debate: “When do we start talking about Rob Edwards being Luton’s greatest ever manager?”
The podcast concludes with a look at our new signing, Japanese international Daiki Hashioka, and, away from football, some big news for town of Luton as a whole.
All this and a whole lot more on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

Premier League football finally returns to the Kenny after an entire month when the Town look to show their immense improvement from the opening day of the season when Brighton and Hove Albion are the visitors.
Luton were well beaten in that first game but Kev is joined by The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to discuss how things could be much different this time around.
As always in a Premier League preview show three dangers in the opposition are spotlighted before a look at how the Hatters could line up on Tuesday night and ways in which Luton could hurt the Seagulls and how the game could play out.
There is also a discussion around a massive tactical switch which has largely gone under the radar before the chaps give their score prediction.
All this and a whole lot more on the only podcast to go from League 2 to the Premier League!

It was revenge for 1985 and 1986 as Luton went to Goodison Park and won for the second time this season as a 2-1 win for the Hatters earned a fifth round clash with the cup holders Manchester City.
Kev is once again joined by a rather happy The Lutonian journalist James Cunliffe to look back on what could be a huge day not just in the FA Cup but also in the survival battle this season.
The boys reflect on the 90 minutes from start to finish, eulogise over a key man in the victory (spoiler alert for once it wasn’t Ross Barkley!), sift through the major moments in the game and highlight the big parts of the win.
The attention then turns to three men who have been on the fringes of things in the Premier League this season before a look at some transfer news which could see some changes to the Town squad in the coming days.
All this and much more - including the answer to that cup win or staying up conundrum which has done the social media rounds - on the longest running Luton Town podcast!
